The current dominant culture is a disposable culture of mediocrity, a culture of junk. Junk is addictive and destructive and disposable and easily replaceable. No one likes junk but everyone craves more of it. Pixadelica is taking responsibility to enable ourselves to reject the junk and create a better culture of our own. By taking responsibility and ownership for our own actions and our own creativity we can inform, educate, and inspire people to participate in a culture of creative passions where everyone can express themselves as an equal without fear of prejudice or retribution. Pixadelica is embracing change. We live in uncertain times and changes in our technology and our interations with our culture are upheaving the current mediocore establishment of junk. Dominant business models that control and dilute the distribution of our media and art are being challenged by new technology and new attitudes. The dominant media players are running scared of teenagers enabled by widely available and often free technology sitting in their bedrooms and expressing simply what they like and don't like. Never before has our generation been this enabled and free to express itself how it likes to a global connected audience. We are pivoting on a precipice between the sterile brightness of the controlled and the darkness of the uncontrolled unlimitless potential power of our own creative imaginations. Traditional means of consumption of our media and culture are changing, and Pixadelica aims to direct that change into something positive that we can all have involvement in. New power and new potential and new change can be frightening, but “we shall not equate darkness with ignorance but with the unknown and the unseen”. Together we shall bring the alternative unseen and unknown underground to the light of the sun. There will be much stumbling in the dark, and it will be a difficult journey with no map and no destination in sight for who can truly predict our futures? Despite this we can choose our paths and choose the moon as our guide through the darkness. Together we can create a community we will all want to participate in. Pixadelica is a recognition that this needs to happen and that this can happen, and that each and everyone of us has potential and can enable ourselves to make this happen. |
